Quite a few years ago a guy showed up at our field from another club with a Jim Van Loo design 33% Extra 230. He asked me to hold the plane while he started it. It had a G-62 gas burner, and I was totally blown away with the size and power of this plane. He had built it and I had to have one of these giants. That was a long time ago. I built one for myself and managed to get 12 flights out of my pride and joy before I destroyed it from a foolish mistake. So I built another one. These were very nice planes for there time, and no one at our field was building planes on this level. Then I met Jerry Worth. To this day, in my eyes there's no finer builder or kinder person. Having the privilege of seeing his work and him taking his time to tell me and show me how he did it has helped me to get to the building stage I am at. Building airplanes is my passion, I always try to improve the next one. I have been blessed with a support group of friends and family that have encouraged me to continue, and I can't imagine myself not looking forward to the next project.
Thanks to: Walt Sr. Suzanne, Andy Fabian, Jerry Worth, Lew Sheffield, Mike and the entire "Pits Bro's" bunch for a place to post pictures and Wayne Geffon for proving to me that my planes fly straight, and a shot at being a Pro builder...Enjoy Life!
